「L」 and 「R」 紛らわしい子音の発音練習のお話です。

口の動き方（主に口内の舌の動き）を視覚的に知ることが、リスニングをより良くすることと、クリアな発音へのキーとなります。
日本人は LとRの音の区別に行き詰まり、こんがらがりやすく、それが原因で恥ずかしい思いをしたり、ぎこちなくなることが多々あります。

映画「ブレードランナー（1982）」でのこのようなフレーズがあります。
“The light that burns twice as bright burns half as long.”

たった一文ですが、この中にLとRがたくさん入っているのがわかりますね。
昨日の中学生のレッスンで、この文を使った取り組みをしてみました。ペアでの単語ドリルの後、だいぶ成果が見られました。

Confusing Consonants Drills… Visually following and being aware of the mouth’s movements is the key to improve listening and clear pronunciation. Japanese speakers of English in particular get stuck on the L and R sounds, and easily get confused, causing many embarrassing and awkward moments.

‘The light that burns twice as bright burns half as long.’ is a quote from the 1982, Ridley Scott movie, Blade Runner.

This phrase contains several L and R sounds. Yesterday, we practiced reading this quote aloud in Junior High School classes with great success after doing word pair drills.
